My ability to simplify and translate complex ideas into accessible copy blurb led Dell to ask me to streamline their AI solutions homepage. While understanding the moral and environmental drawbacks of AI and its unnecessary overuse in tech and corporate sectors, ethical AI use cases do exist. I also feel that while AI is terrifying because of the harm it has done and can do, it is here whether we like it or not. So, it is up to us as employees and creatives to use it responsibly. I firmly believe that being able to hold the scary thing accountable means intricately understanding the scary thing.
The ask was to take fragments of ideas and paragraphs of explanations from SMEs of AI solutions and create an overview page of AI offerings. The overview includes how others have implemented the solutions and shows what they can do for visitors’ organizations. Pew Research findings and my learning have shown that people understand AI solutions more easily when there is a real user case and customer success story. Some of these use cases include the City of Amarillo using an AI-generated Digital Assistant to effectively take the city’s 24% non-English speaking population through the city’s website in their native language. They were able to access the city/government services and find answers. Several University Hospitals have used these assistants to effectively communicate complex medical diagnoses and instructions to patients who do not speak the same language as their medical team.
The University of Cambridge used the AI solution of “digital twins”, using synthetic data to model a highly probable scenario, to address the critical need for sustainable supercomputing. The investment and then implementation supported significant advancements in healthcare, green energy, and climate modeling.
